Richard Albany Nelson, Barrister

Richard Albany Nelson 1806-1875, born in Chester-le-Street as the third son of Thomas Nelson, surgeon, was a London-based Barrister-at-law at Lincoln’s Inn. He also seems to have been in charge of a company connected with the Whitley Colliery, in Whitley Bay, and there are records from 1848 and then more from 1861 referring to properties in the north-east. His son James Nelson went to Winchester College and was a manufacturer and engineer working in Durham and Northumberland.
